Building Energy Rating (BER)

All residential buildings which are offered for sale or letting (with some but very few exceptions) will legally require a BER Certificate after 1st January 2009. Assessments of property must be carried out by a registered and qualified BER Assessor who has been registered with Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) .

A BER Certificate will rate the property in its efficiency on the use of Energy on a scale from the most efficient(A1 Rating) to the least efficient (G Rating). This Certificate must be available to prospective tenants for examination when letting a property.
